Unmodifred they look so like such bubble era “cute” cars; but lowered with a hard top and front lip, they’re absolutely menacing. I remember seeing the Best Motoring videos where on of the big Japanese tuners did a K20 swap into one of these and just lusting after that car.

Not really I love both cars, but the MR2 sypder is just more attainable,for me, with S2000 prices just not falling at all. I’ve see clean ZZW30s with 100,000 miles for 5 grand or less. Not even an NB Miata can be had for the same price, unless it’s beat. You just have to be willing to lose the practicality of an actual trunk.

It’s unfortunate how expensive and difficult it is to get a hardtop in the US.
